the frist duty of the police is to prevent crime. this mean that they must see that laws are obeyed. they must be ready at any time to help people who are in trouble. this is done by the police who patrol the streets and those at headquearts.
the second duty of the police is to find the criminal. this means that if someone has committed to a crime, they will triy to find the criminal. they will visit the scene of the crime and gather all the evidence that they can get for the court. this dity is done by defectives. often the work is so difficult that it takes a long time and require hard work and a lot of patience.
